How CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning Was Born

CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning was born in 2013, out of a moment that still sits with Tomas Reyes. He was called to a home in Queens where the homeowner, a woman in her late forties, stood in her kitchen holding a receipt for a duct cleaning she’d paid for three weeks earlier. She walked Tomas to a supply register, unscrewed the vent cover herself, and handed him a flashlight. The inside of the duct looked like it hadn’t been touched in a decade. Drywall dust, pet hair, a child’s sock. A shop vac had been waved at one register, a coupon honored, and a family left believing their air was cleaner than it was.

Tomas stood there holding that flashlight a long moment. He’d been in the trade for years by then, riding for other companies, and he’d seen that exact scene too many times. The blower would run, the vacuum would make noise, the van would leave. What the customer never got was proof. No photograph of the inside of a duct before the work. No photograph after. Just a receipt and a feeling.

That afternoon, Tomas decided the job itself wasn’t the problem. The transparency was. He started CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning with a promise that sounded almost too simple: photograph the inside of every run before and after, and put the price in writing before anyone starts. From that first home in New York City, the standard grew into a network of independently owned and operated locations serving homeowners from Brooklyn to Houston, Philadelphia to Phoenix, Los Angeles to Chicago. The mission has never changed. Before and after, photographed, every run.

Tomas Reyes’s Personal Connection to the Air Duct Cleaning Trade

Tomas Reyes came into the trade through the basement, not the sales floor. He was twenty-two, working maintenance on apartment buildings in the Bronx, and a tenant complained about a bedroom that never cooled right. The property manager told him to go look at the ducts. Tomas pulled a register off the wall, lay on his back with a flashlight, and looked down the run. What he saw wasn’t a mechanical failure. It was a decade of dead air. Dust caked onto the walls of the duct like felt. Lint and hair woven into a mat. A toy car jammed against the damper. The smell was stale and warm, like an attic in August.

He cleaned that run by hand because nobody had taught him the right tools yet. He scraped, vacuumed, wiped. When he put the register back and turned the system on, the air from that vent moved with a force it hadn’t had since the building was new. The tenant called down three days later and said her bedroom finally slept like the rest of the apartment. Tomas went back and pulled the register off again, just to look. The run was still clean. It held.

That feeling never left him. Not the money, not the praise. It was the before and after. In this trade, you get to see the problem, fix it with your hands, and then show the customer what changed. Most service work doesn’t offer that. Roofers fix what you can’t see. Electricians fix what you can’t touch. But a duct run is either clean or it isn’t, and a photograph tells the truth in half a second. For ten-plus years, Tomas has walked into homes with a flashlight and a camera, and he still never gets tired of that first look down a dark run. It is the one moment in the job that never lies.

If he weren’t cleaning ducts, Tomas thinks he would have ended up in some kind of evidence work. Photography, building inspection, something where documentation matters because the truth is the deliverable. Instead, he found a trade that is both physical and honest. The blower, the vacuum, and the camera. That’s the whole craft.

Meet Tomas Reyes - The Person Behind Every Job

Tomas Reyes founded CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning in 2013 and has spent the years since building the company into a national network of independently owned and operated locations, each held to a single written standard. His background is in hands-on service work: apartment maintenance, HVAC support, and years on the truck before he ever opened the doors under his own name. He’s trained on commercial-grade duct cleaning equipment, and he has spent more than a decade perfecting the documentation process that separates a clean run from a vacuum noise.

What makes Tomas different from a corporate franchise technician is simple: he was the technician first. He has carried the equipment, crawled the crawlspaces, and argued with the homeowner who was quoted one price on the phone and a different price at the door. His commitment is personal. Every home under his brand is expected to receive the same honesty he demanded when he was the one holding the flashlight. Tomas guarantees that. To the customer, to the team, to the record.

Our Promise to Homeowners

Every CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning location operates under the Haven Standard, our five-clause values code. Clause 1: Have it in writing. A flat price, a written scope of work, and a written warranty, agreed before anyone starts. No per-vent pricing games, no bait-and-switch coupons. The price on your estimate is the price on your invoice.

Clause 4 is the one Tomas cares about most: Evidence on every job. Photos and readings of what we actually found, documented before the work and after. If we say it’s clean, you can see it. That is not a promise about our feelings or our effort. It is a promise about proof. If we cannot show you the difference, we have not done our job.

Our Credentials

Our Credentials

CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning locations operate to a national standard. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires, and every location maintains its own insured and bonded status. We do not display license numbers on a marketing page because each independently owned and operated location carries its own. Ask your local team and they will provide it.

Why this matters to a homeowner:

  • State-licensed: The moment someone works in your home, they’ve agreed to their state’s standard of accountability. A license means there is a regulatory body you can call if something goes wrong.
  • Insured & bonded: If a technician damages your property or leaves a job unfinished, you are not left holding the cost. Insurance and bonding are your backstop.
  • Documented record: The most important credential we offer isn’t a certificate. It is the file we leave behind: written price, written scope, written warranty, and photos of every run.

Licensing is not a marketing claim. It is the minimum floor for someone entering your home.

Rooted in the Communities We Serve

CleanRun Air Duct Cleaning was founded in New York City, and that founding city will always be part of the brand’s story. But we are not a single-city shop, and we’ve never pretended to be. Our locations serve homeowners across New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, and the surrounding regions. The local business is the local business: their license, their trucks, their neighbors. What CleanRun contributes is the standard they work to, the documentation system that proves it, and the buying power that keeps their prices honest. That partnership is what lets an independently owned location in Brooklyn deliver the same photographed evidence as a location in Phoenix.
